In Chapter 4 of Demon Slayer: Hinokami Chronicles, Tanjiro's path intertwines with that of Zenitsu, another skilled Demon Slayer. Their mission: to cleanse a haunting mansion infested with demons. Outside the mansion, they encounter two frightened young children, and Tanjiro entrusts his sister Nezuko's safety to them. As they venture inside the eerie dwelling, the kids sneak in too, terrified of the strange box (containing Nezuko) making unsettling noises. Soon, the house begins to shift and twist, separating Tanjiro and Zenitsu, with each one accompanied by a scared child.

Within the depths of the mansion, Zenitsu unexpectedly encounters the fearsome Tongue Demon while sleepwalking. Overcoming his usual crippling fear, Zenitsu valiantly defeats the demon, showcasing a hidden strength born of necessity. Meanwhile, Tanjiro navigates the ominous surroundings with the other child in tow, searching for a way to reunite with Zenitsu and safely escape the haunted mansion. With each moment more perilous than the last, Chapter 4 is filled with suspense, action, and newfound courage as Tanjiro and Zenitsu face their own demons both within and outside themselves to protect the innocent and eradicate the malevolent forces lurking in the dark.

Inosuke Hashibira confronts and fights the Large Demon. Winning the fight and successfully eliminating him and the threat he imposed upon the three siblings. Tanjiro chases after the drum demons scent. Confronting and defeating him, without taking any significant blows. Tanjiro then finds the children and takes them out, where he finds Zenitsu defending the box(Nezuko) from Inosuke. After resolving the Mansion they descend the mountain to a friendly mansion to spend the night before their next mission.
