Zilog and Moto - Episode 93: Rocky - Master System
14The NES and the Master System didn't share a lot of titles, for obvious reasons, but that doesn't mean that Sega and Nintendo didn't try to have competing releases. For instance, Nintendo has the very popular arcade machine Punch-Out, which they prepare to covert into Mike Tyson's Punch-Out for the NES. What does Sega do? Well, they simply get the license to make a game based on the most popular series of movies about boxing of all time, in Rocky.
It takes a lot more than a big license to compete with Nintendo, especially in the 8 bit era, there's got to be a decent game under the covers as well. Did Sega program something worthy of taking some of that attention away from Punch-Out? Take a look!
