As a follow up to scary rocket fuels I have the story of the planned successor to the B-52 which was originally proposed to use high energy fuel. Made with Boron instead of carbon the molecules packed more energy into the same mass, but they came with side effects.
In the end a test aircraft was built but it flew wit conventional jet fuel and was outdated by the advent of missile technology.
