When your character reaches 1000 trophies, it becomes a Master, with no burden
When your character reaches 1200 trophies, it becomes GrandMaster 1, with handicap of 0.8 levels
When your character reaches 1400 trophies, it becomes GrandMaster 2, with handicap of 1.6 levels
When your character reaches 1600 trophies, it becomes GrandMaster 3, with handicap of 2.4 levels
When your character reaches 1800 trophies, it becomes GrandMaster 4, with handicap of 3.2 levels
When your character reaches 2000 trophies, it becomes GrandMaster 5, with handicap of 4 levels

The Handicap is applied during gameplay, and although it does not change the displayed user level, it effectively reduces your character's power by the amount of handicap you have.

The handicap affects the final size of the health bar in-game. It should display the difference of power like it happens today with level difference but taking the prestige factor into account

TL;DR/Ex: if you’re level 16 and have 2000 trophies and you fight someone with 1199 trophies, to them, you’re really level 12.

This update effectively makes overall and character rankings more meaningful. The higher ranking you are now, the better of a player you are.

Out of game rewards (Character base, badge, profile portrait) are permanent, in-game rewards (pre-match pin, in-game level border) are trophy based per season.
