Zoom across every cover of EGM Magazine ~ Loopable Low Key Soundscape
I recently completed a decade-old project of mine: to make a giant collage of every cover of Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) magazine. You can zoom all around that image yourself -- comparing cover stories or industry trends without having to load up multiple pages -- over at GameLuv.com.

I liked it so much that I thought I'd turn it into a video as well. From the high-level view showing all 264 covers of the magazine's 25-year run, we repeatedly dive down and zoom in on several featured issues. In just ten minutes you'll see 39 different covers, full-screen and close up, highlighting moments like:
The First Issue ~ Mega Man 2
Sonic Adventure and "How to buy your own coin-op"
Metal Gear Solid 2
Street Fighter II vs. Mortal Kombat
The Portable Wars: Sony PSP vs. Nintendo DS
"The Next-Generation Console War" ~ Wii, PS3, Xbox 360
Um, the *first* console war: Sega vs. Nintendo
Final Fantasy VII "The Best RPG Ever"
The Ultra 64 "Game Screen Debut!"
Year of the Portables: DS, PSP, N-Gage, Tapwave, Gizmondo
Crash! Sonic! Mario!
Winning tips for "Super Mario 4"
Your Guide to PlayStation 2 Online
The RPG Revolution (featuring Zelda 64 and Parasite Eve)
The Sims "Better than the PC game"
"Revenge of the PS3!"
Furry Showdown! Back to back issues on Bubsy and StarFox
Dawn of the Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo "Revolution" era
The Street Fighter Legacy circa Street Fighter IV's release
Tomb Raider "PlayStation's Greatest Adventure!"
"The Pokemon Phenomenon"
Sequel Season: Gears of War 2 and Killzone 2
Summer '95: double features on Mortal Kombat 3
"Should You Buy A Dreamcast…?"
Batman: Arkham City & Call of Duty vs. Battlefield
Star Trek: TNG vs. Beavis & Butt-head
The Final Issue ~ Destiny
For fear of sounding too grating or using copyrighted music, I went with an underwater soundscape. It's as if we're *diving* down to look at each cover and then *surfacing* to the top-level view. Turns out, it's pretty chill to just listen to and it loops nicely if you need something gaming-themed to drift off to sleep with. Conversely, mute the sound and set it to loop for a dynamic screensaver or background display.
