Spectrum 128k

Predator for the Spectrum released by Activision in 1987.

Such a terrible terrible game. The production standard here makes it look like a single programmer was contracted to convert the Amiga game in 14 days yet gave up after a week. They dared to sell this at £9.99 on its initial release, but even the 2.99 budget price was too much.

The game is designed for 48k with an AY rendition of the title tune for 128k systems. It has only 4 levels, the first 2 which are quite difficult but you can avoid most gun fire by staying on the bottom of the screen. your energy bar is refilled at the start of the next level. Bullets/guns can be collected during play but you only get the 3 grenades you start with.

Level 3 is quite easy and just required avoiding the predator. you can fight it on the log bridge if you want but for the sake of energy or can just walk right past it and move onto level 4. Level 4 is again easy and you can avoid the predator fights and go right to the log trap. Kill the predator and ....The End. Super short and youll wonder why you bothered.

A few version of this game are buggy and thegame will crash when its supposed to load the ending. Im not sure of its emu related or not but I had to use a late release of the game with the speedlock protection removed. Takes a little longer to load but better for it in the end.

This could be the worst movie licenced game on the spectrum. -
