Number 10: Underwater Graveyard in Madagascar.
Now, don't be frightened just yet as it is not an underwater burial site for humans, which perhaps is going to be full of haunting stories or records of a chainsaw massacre left for over a couple of centuries.
Instead, this so-called underwater graveyard is a submerged cave filled with ancient bones of a long-lost animal kingdom. This cave, known as the Aven Cave alongside two others, was discovered off the coast of Madagascar in the Tsimanampetsotsa National Park. Hmm, that's quite a long name, don't you think?
Anyway, the name is in the least of your worries when you go diving in this 82-feet Malagasy sinkhole, especially when you find yourself in this region so dense with bones that you can hardly put your hands down without feeling them! From the bones of an extinct elephant-bird to the skull of a 500-year old lemur as big as that of a gorilla, just make your pick.
Even when getting to meet such a terrific sight inside a dark, dreadful cavern is creepy enough, the fact that we still don't have a clear explanation of how they got there is another growing pain.
Number 9: A Brutal Subaquatic Cage For Deep Sea Animals
You really think you've lived long enough to see all in the world of barbarism; perhaps you've not seen this video of an underwater cage with a live animal tied to it. And this is not just any animal but a Dugong which is one of the rarest sea animals in the world.
This video was recorded off the coast of a remote island in Kokoya Indonesia by a group of divers who took time to explore the limpid waters of the area, which is one of the perfect spots you can hope to make a deep-diving trip.
However, the trip did not go as expected when the team saw a very bizarre sight of a Dugong mother tied up by its tail to an enclosed cage right beside its baby, also trapped in a separate enclosure. They were both shut away by a group of fishermen who charged divers some penny to watch.
Fortunately for the animals, the team of divers quickly called the attention of the appropriate authorities for quick action. And not long after, the fishermen were forced to release the Dugongs who had suffered quite a couple of injuries after being kept for several weeks. Really, it's not only terrifying but disheartening!
Number 8: The Skeleton Tea Party
Just 40 feet below the Colorado River between the Arizona and California borders are two skeletons trussed to their chairs around a creepy scenery of rocks as if they were having a tea party. An effect you'll spot about the scene in the absence of ship debris.
This dreadful fact about the absence of shipwrecks will get you thinking about how the skeletons ended up there. And that's about enough to run terrifying simulations through your mind about the existence of pirate divers who would snatch any lone diver they catch snooping around, tie him to a chair and leave him to rot!
In contrast to any chilling thought you may be having already, this particular underwater terror was a joke. A freaky private prank engrafted by a diving couple from Phoenix to spook unaware divers. They even admitted that the skeletons were fakes.
Well, some jokes are just too expensive to play at especially when they might mean the worst nightmare for incognizant frogmen. Just imagine how the police divers who posted and investigated the site would have been at first sighting. You really don't want to relate to that.
