10+ Things I Like To Do When Installing Linux Mint MATE
This video is about the things I do when first installing Linux Mint MATE 20.1 x64.
****NOW MADE WITH SOUND SUPPRESSION****
(no more fan sound in the background)
In this video, I will walk you through step-by-step during the post-install configuration I do for Linux Mint MATE. These are the things I cover, timestamps will be posted soon:
1) uncheck welcome box
2) change date/time settings to 12 hr.
3) on a dual boot system with two hard drives, install grub-customizer to bypass the linux boot menu (to avoid double boot menus) or to change default operating system to windows
4) give firefox a search engine. Install adblock plus and dark reader.
5) go to home folder. Create three new folders, icons, scripts, and games.
6) install gimp. Linux mint comes with a great office suite… might as well have the best open-source graphics editor!
7) download themes and install them in linux mint. Configure themes.
8) pick some random wallpaper online.
9) configure screen saver to the settings you prefer.
10) install 32-bit libraries, because I have no idea why they are not included by default
11) configure trash icon to appear on desktop
