If you grab the heated room missiles early, both an upper and lower route are feasible (both have 8 doors, northern route has an extra fast transition). Southern route ends up being faster by about half a second, which is a bit of a relief since you have farming opportunities that you don't get in northern route. However, it is pretty unlikely that humans will have both the confidence and the HP to grab the 2x heated room missiles before Ridley.

Door bonk after the space boost on top route saves ~6f making northern route about 20f slower. If you're a degenerate gambler you can make northern route faster by ~25f by laying a PB in the room before Hi-Jump, but you better hope you get another PB drop before you're out of norfair or you're losing more time than you saved.
