I have a Rockford Fosgate PUNCH PBR300X4 (300 watts @ 4 channels - Front & back left & right)

This is a vehicle amplifier meaning it has a 4 ohm speaker impedance on it so you cannot connect an 8 ohm speaker to this amplifier alone, you need two 8 ohm speakers in series to make the proper 4 ohms you need for this amplifier.

The common issue people have in vehicle audio is they try to connect home stereo speakers to these vehicle amplifiers and stuff them into their trunks, only to have the finals in the amplifier burn out.
That was not the case with this amplifier, I suspect a diode has failed in it on the B+ rail.
