One year since I started officially streaming! Thanks to everybody who made this such a fun time. Thank you especially to everyone who generously subbed, gifted, and cheered. (Viewers start a hype train, trigger two custom bit alerts for the first time, and even unlock a new emote slot, I believe.) A great excuse for a triple feature of three of my favorite genres--and all of them turn out to be good.

First, a beat-em-up from MakinGames called RAGING JUSTICE that I recently snagged in a Steam sale. This is one of the better beat-em-ups of recent years, and the way you can arrest enemies adds an unusual element to the gameplay. The dialogue can get pretty funny, and there's enough challenge that you'll have to practice for a while to beat it. I was reminded several times of that overlooked arcade classic Vendetta. I SHOW YOU JUSTICE. This game also has huge BEARS. Not that I'm going to quote Kipling at them. My brain is not thaaat random or pretentious.

We all knew I'd scrounge up a rail shooter! One I'd wanted to stream for a while. Antab Studios' GRIDD: RETROENHANCED takes place in cyberspace and looks like a something out of an 80s sci-fi movie, only with more polished graphics. Gameplay We play a hacker. We have to get past the giant face and collect data and shoot things. Hello giant caterpillar dragon. The gameplay is something like Star Fox. I give it a few goes and have a blast doing it. With no checkpoints and only one continue (which you have to earn), it would probably take a while before I could beat it.

Adventure genre. Film noir. Hard-boiled detective. Absurdist comedy. Ya remember when I streamed that old Flash adventure for one of my first official streams? Never played the sequel. Had it on CD-ROM for over a decade. But never played it. I finally do. Pinhead Games's THE GOAT IN THE GREY FEDORA. Detective Nick Bounty recounts his last case. A beautiful broad, some dangerous men, a sought-after statue, and more twists than a Gridd: Retroenhanced track await us. This game maximizes the absurdity (comparable to Sam and Max levels of ridiculousness). Some of the humor is very self-consciously politically incorrect, making fun of noir tropes. I mean, some of that sexism was . . . well, I won't spoil anything.

I discovered a bug in TGITGF where, if you save and restore the game in a certain scene, you get softlocked. So we replay from the start and then finish the game. At least it isn't long. Hey Pinhead Games, why you no fix obscure bug in the long-discontinued CD release of 15-year-old freeware game???

To celebrate the streamaversary, we have some fun new channel points rewards. Most noticeably, I flippantly reminisce about different games (decided by chat) I've played since I started streaming. We also have some game giveaways, one of which results in a tie (must I cut the game in half?), me eating both pheasant sausage and strange Japanese sweets, and an appearance by Fluffbomb Cheerglimmer. Probably the other big highlight is my running noir-style narration, some might argue.
