Today’s episode will be dedicated to 180 Minutes Pour Vivre, to which I will refer hereafter as 180MPV for convenience. Released in 2020 and led by battle-scarred Doom veteran William Huber, 180 MPV is the latest and greatest megawad to be released by the French Doom community, a direct successor to their 3 Hours of Agonie trilogy, and their most polished, mature, and exciting project so far. It welcomed three newcomers into the fold, relaxed its three hour build time restriction, and blew a gaping hole their previously established difficulty ceiling. The later maps in 180 MPV make no pretense of accommodating less experienced playe4rs, sliding into the skid of slaughter, while channeling French favorites Ribbiks, Darkwave, Death-Destiny, and Jonas Feragen. Every time I play this wad it knocks me on my ass in the best way possible, and it’s become one of my most personally anticipated Dean of Doom episodes.
