1942 Ending
Game Ending #09
1942
Developer: Capcom
Publisher: Capcom
Release: 1985
Lemme divulge a little bit about how I do this. Every game I've recorded a video for I own in my collection. These are naturally ROMs to make it easier for recording. Mostly this is a library of personal achievements just so I have recorded proof to go with my "golden list". When I play them, I do NOT use cheat codes, game genie, save states (unless Im pulled away from my PC for something and just pausing it wont do) or turbo.
So that said, I will also say I'm getting old (30) and repeatedly pressing a button makes my hands a little more sore than it used to. So I broke one of my rules and used turbo for this game. I like shooters and really like the ones where you can just slam that button down and fire away while you try to survive bullet hell. This game has a very slow auto fire and it is definitely not a bullet hell game.
Now about this game, it was originally an arcade game that was ported to the NES, which is what a lot of the Nintendo's first-year games were. Coincidentally this was also Capcom's first game for the NES.
As you see here, this is a "game over" ending. These make me sad. If I was in the arcade playing this, just going on the amount of continues I used to beat it today, I would have probably spent about $12.00. To spend the time and energy into beating something and to end up with a screen similar to what I could get while letting the game play while I eat a sandwich, makes me cry.
A couple of other things I wanna point out real quick. The plane you fly is a P-38 from the looks of it, which is kind of appropriate since it ran more sorties than any other plane in WWII, though it was no flying fortress. Your "special", if you wanna call it that, is just a lame flip that actually ended up killing me more than helping. The thing I now hate most in the world is seeing your landing carrier coming down on the screen then dying so close to it. Damn troll...I expect a face to come out of the carrier tower saying, "Problem?" The beeps you hear throughout the game I think may be Morse code hypnosis method because after about the 15th level, I was "in the zone", though after i beat it, I did take a nap.
