“1944: The Loop Master” is a captivating vertical scrolling shooter arcade game developed by Capcom in 2000. Unlike its predecessors, the programming for this title was done by a separate company, 8ing/Raizing. It’s the fifth installment in Capcom’s 194X series of World War II-themed shooters.

The game comprises 15 stages, and players have the option to start at different stages based on the arcade board settings. An invisible time limit during boss battles adds pressure, as failing to destroy all boss units within the time limit results in a mission failure, although this does not impede game progress.
Bosses in the game are memorable and challenging, including Nagi, a high-speed destroyer; Akane, a prototype attacker; and Kai, an anti-submarine battle cruiser. The final boss, Appare Toride, marks the end of the game if the stage layout is set to one loop, or the game loops back to stage 1 with increased difficulty if set to endless.
