Northern Ireland based 2 Rifles are getting ready to head back to Afghanistan. Their last tour in the summer of 2009 cost the lives of 13 Riflemen and 24 soldiers sustained life changing injuries. Many of the young soldiers about to embark on their first operational tour, the only memories they have of Herrick 10 are the images they saw on their television screens when the got home from school. Preparing them in a structured way for the realities of Afghanistan is paramount. This time round their role will be very different and they will have new challenges to face, Lt Colonel Bill Wright will be their Commanding Officer.
