The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge paid their first official visit to the Irish Guards since Prince William was appointment as Colonel Of the Regiment. 400 Irish Guardsmen marched proudly onto the parade square at Victoria Barracks in Windsor to receive medals they earned on Op Herrick 13. The Royal couple also presented an Elizabeth Cross to each family of a soldier who was killed during the operation in Afghanistan. The Battalion lost 3 Guardsmen and 3 attached personnel during their tour and 9 soldiers sustained life-changing injuries. Its been a busy year for the Micks who now have a summer of public duties ahead.
