In anime, there are simply too many villains to count, and they all come in their own shapes and sizes. Some are legendary, some are pure evil while others are comically underrated. However, there is a brand of villain out there, the villain with a heart of gold. Most commonly these villains share a lot of similarities with the anti-hero trope, but what makes these villains different is the fact that they, at one time, were direct adversaries to the protagonist at some point in the show’s run.
These guys were actual bad guys, but through some sort of even or change of heart they became good guys and in many instances helped save the day. Some were badder than others, but in the end they saw the light. Today, we are going to look more into what made them see the light and what made them so bad.
