2013 in Review (Part 4: Predictions)
We end our 2013 review by going over the predictions we made last year as well as provide our obtuse predictions for 2014. How badly did we do? Find out!

Predictions
Microsoft
16:14 Xbox 360
- Another pricedrop, no more revisions
- Tony: Store Bundles; Alex: 2-Game Bundles
- Cross-Gen Games will continue to appear
- Alex: Collections (like Fable's 1-3)
- Tony: Collections on Xbox One, MS is done with 360
17:07 Xbox One
- Titanfall will be the big game for H1 2014 (no other platforms mentioned)
- Will push indie (ID@Xbox) and Minecraft
- Tony: Might see more Smart Glass integration but not huge
- Halo will be their big holiday release
- New Halo might shift away from traditional Halo adventure, more Destiny-like
- Microsoft will announce a Streaming service a la PS Now
- Will push Television and media content on the console
- Alex: Quantum Break will be combination game/video series
- Either Black Tusk's New IP or Quantum Break make this holiday. The other comes 2015
- New Fable or new IP announced this year, 2015
- Pricedrop by Fall if at all, might do a Bundle instead
- Another Kinect game will be announced
Sony
20:11 PlayStation 3
- Pricedrop will happen no doubt (bundles will include The Last of Us likely)
- Last year was the last big year for PS3, expect minimal if any first-party announcements
- The Last Guardian (Alex: It will be on PS3 w/ PS Now, Tony: Moved to PS4)
- Another quirky Japanese game might appear as the system tapers off
- Cross-Gen will continue supporting the console for some time
21:43 PlayStation Vita
- PSVita is more or less dead in the US, focus has shifted to digital releases
- Will be pushed as an indie game device and peripheral to PS4
- 1-3 Major Releases to be expected, others will be PS3/4 ports
- Streaming (PS Now, Remote Play) will be the new identity for Vita
- PSVita TV will be announced in US/EU, pushing PS Now
- PSVita will have extended life in Japan, but not much elsewhere
23:40 PlayStation 4
- PS4 will continue to sell-out until around mid-year if shipments are consistent
- PS Now: Per-Game Rent ($1-2 for ~week), Subscription ($10-20 a month, separate from PSPlus)
- PSPlus will give PS Now discounts or free rentals
- No pricedrop
- No Cross-Gen games from Sony
- Infamous: Second Son and Driveclub will be big 1st half titles
- Destiny is PS4's major third-party release
- New Media Molecule IP release this year
- Tony: Crash Bandicoot coming exclusive to Sony
- Uncharted 4 will miss 2014 but will be shown at E3
- The Order: 1886, New Sony Santa Monica IP for Holiday
- New Sony Japan title will be announced, set for 2015
- Plenty more indies...
Nintendo
27:50 Wii and DS
- Wii is dead, will be removed from shelves at retailer requests
- DS is dead
28:46 Nintendo 3DS
- Small pricedrop will happen. Tony: Only if Vita does
- No new functionality, expansion on Miiverse
- Majora's Mask 3D will be this year (Tony: w/ Master Quest)
- Pokemon Z will be announced by year-end
- Either new Metroid or Rhythm Heaven Game this year
- No new Mario mainline game
- (Smash Brothers will be a major holiday release)
32:27 Wii U
- More Free-to-Play experiences (and Wii Sports Club / Wii Fit U promotions)
- Steel Divers: Sub Wars releases this year (might be 3DS)
- At least one more F2P game for Wii U
- Tony: Animal Crossing with DLC / F2P features
- Smash Brothers will be their major holiday title (and release on 3DS same time)
- More HD Remakes, likely Super Mario Sunshine or MP
- New Paper Mario game, Yoshi and Bayonetta this year
- X comes stateside 2015
- Long-shot: Wii U GamePad removed, sold separately [pricedrop]
- If GamePad is removed, Nintendo Land or another game will bundle w/ it
- No Acquisitions, More Collaborations
- Alex: Another Sonic game, a collaborative Mario-Sonic game
- Alex: No more Wii _ games, Tony: At least one more
- One more NFC-focused title (Tony: Smash Bros.)
38:00 Third Parties
- Ouya 2 will come out, will remain niche, might close by year-end
- Steam Machines release to a limited but passionate audience, will not be mainstream at current prices
- Steam Greenlight will remain as open as ever for selections, Kickstarters will still be prevalent
- Activision: Next iterations of Call of Duty and Skylanders
- Ubisoft: Watch_Dogs, The Division (maybe), New Assassin's Creed, New Black Flag IP 2015, more Ubi-Art
- Capcom: Resident Evil 7, MH4 stateside soon (not on Wii U), Deep Down
