Driving enthusiasts for years were reluctant to take Hyundai serious but this car changed that perception. This is the 2016 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, a sport coupe with rear wheel drive that possesses power, a great look and a nice price tag. It's certainly worth a spin if you are a driving enthusiast. Check out our five reasons the Genesis Coupe is the real deal.
Bold Looks
A solid sport coupe need to look good. And with the Genesis Coupe, Hyundai designers produced a beauty. It has an athletic front grille, a unique beltline swoop and some stylish alloy wheels. It isn't subtle at all -- as a matter of fact it seems to enjoy being front and center. If you want to stand out from the crowd, then the Genesis Coupe is right up your alley.
Burly V6 Power
Previously, the Genesis Coupe offered a turbocharged 4-cylinder but that has changed. It now boasts a 3.8 liter V6 that produces a whopping 348 horsepower. That is some serious power and muscle. One of the best things about it is once you step on it, that V6 really purrs. It has more than enough for any passing situation or highway merging. This car can really move, unlike others that are all show and no go.
Balanced Handling
Hyundai really did some homework as far as driving dynamics, benchmarking the Infiniti G Coupe, which is based on the Nissan 370Z. It doesn't come with surprise that the Genesis Coupe takes on twisty roads with ease. The steering is responsive and precise, so you never feel like you'll lose complete control. On the track, this car drifts pretty easily if you have the drifting skills. This is one Hyundai that is definitely for real.
Snug Seats
You've got to love a sport car with comfortable front seats. On either trim level, they all deliver comfort, unlike most sporty rides. The Ultimate or R-Spec trim levels have extended bolsters in their sport seats, totally worth the upgrade. With this type of power, you need seats that keep you snug and secure. We recommend you might as well go all the way and opt for the genuine performance seats to seal the deal.
Exceptional Value
The base trim level starts around 27,000, not bad at all. If fact, coming standard are Bluetooth, LED running lights, a smart key and even automatic climate control. There is the sport-tuned very athletic R-Spec trim level. And the Ultimate trim level, which has a cool Infinity audio system and leather interior. These are features that would cost an arm and a leg elsewhere but Hyundai makes it reasonable to get into a car with this type of capability.
