2016 Nissan Altima | 5 Reasons to Buy | Autotrader
The midsize-sedan segment is full of strong contenders, and the refreshed 2016 Nissan Altima is a great addition to the mix. Here are five reasons why the Altima remains one of Nissan's top sellers.
Responsive Ride
The Altima offers two great engines to choose from: a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that's good for a peppy 182 horsepower and a commanding 270-hp 3.5-liter V6. Handling is sharp and responsive thanks to the Altima's rear multilink suspension. Nissan even took it a step further and quieted the cabin so that road noise stays at a minimum.
Attractive Looks
Nissan made a few adjustments to the Altima's exterior, and the results are pretty impressive. It has nice character lines, UV ray-reducing windows and an overall athletic look. The V-shaped grille and the optional LEDs give it some attitude up front. And the dual chrome exhaust reminds onlookers that the Altima can more than handle its own.
Fancy Features
With everything the Altima offers, you might expect to find it on a luxury-car lot. Standard equipment includes push-button starting, hands-free Bluetooth and a 4.3-inch LCD driver display screen. Additions range from dual-zone climate control, a power moonroof, heated leather seats and even adaptive cruise control available on the top trim levels. Simply put, the Altima makes high-end features available at a fraction of the cost.
Safe Technology
Families have trusted the Altima for years, so Nissan continues putting safety first. Standard features include stability control and Easy-Fill Tire Alert, which beeps when you hit the right tire pressure. With certain trim levels, you can opt for a rearview camera, a blind spot monitoring system and even the NissanConnect services, which provide an array of protective features to keep you and your family safe.
Excellent Efficiency
Nissan knows how important fuel economy is. That's why all 4-cylinder trim levels except the 2.5 SR return 31 miles per gallon in combined driving. Even the 3.5-liter V6 model gets 26 mpg combined. To further boost efficiency, there are optional active grille shutters (available only on 4-cylinder models) that close at higher speeds to reduce wind resistance.
Autotrader Says
On the market now for almost 25 years, the Altima is certainly getting better with age. Take the 2016 Nissan Altima for a drive: You'll experience great styling, powerful but efficient engines and Nissan reliability at its best.
