2016 Chevrolet Camaro | 5 Reasons to Buy | Autotrader
The Chevrolet Camaro needs no introduction. It has more than made its place in American muscle car history. The latest Camaro is what a muscle car in this day and age should be, and we have five reasons why the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro still has some history to write.
Technology to Match
You have to have the technology to match the Camaro's premium performance. Coming standard is the Chevrolet MyLink interface, which has a 7-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera and features Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and OnStar services. We are especially fond of the premium Bose sound system and the safety of adding the Convenience and Lighting packages.
Feature Friendly
No need to pay top dollar for a fancy high-end sports car. The Camaro offers premium features like standard 18-in alloys, LED running lights, keyless ignition and even a leather-wrapped steering wheel you can have heated if you'd like. Our 2SS convertible test car has Brembo performance brakes, 20-in wheels and dual-zone climate control. Customizing of all sorts can be had on any trim level.
Daring Drive
The Camaro is a sports car through and through, however it won't leave you exhausted like others. With either transmission option, whether it's the 6-speed manual or the paddle-shift automatic as in our test car 2SS convertible, the Camaro exudes flat-out fun. The mode selector lets you customize your driving mode, and on the V6 and V8 models, the exhaust system sings a note for each of those modes.
Updated Handling
Muscle cars generally aren't the most nimble, but the Camaro now has the Cadillac ATS's platform. The results are a lighter, wider Camaro that takes turns better than ever, especially with the top back, like our convertible tester allowed. It enhances handling even further, and optional on the SS is Magnetic Ride Control, which adjust dampers in split seconds to road conditions for supreme responsiveness.
Massive Muscle
Chevrolet gave the Camaro three powertrain options. Powerful and efficient, the base is a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder -- yes, that's correct, a 4-cylinder with 275 horsepower that hits 60 miles per hour in a quick 5.4 seconds. Middle of the road is the 3.6 liter V6 with 335 hp and our convertible 2SS test car has the top spot with a 6.2 liter V8 pumping out 455 hp, 0-60 in 4 seconds flat, making for tons of fun.
Autotrader Says
The Camaro shows that all that muscle doesn't mean anything unless you can move. It's agile, efficient, very powerful and let's not forget reasonably priced. Do yourself a favor and take a spin in the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro.
