Mazda’s CX-5 compact crossover has earned an impressive number of industry awards since its 2013 debut and was Mazda’s biggest seller for 2017. The 2017 version launched the second generation with a new look and better tech, and here we’ll review the 2018, which adds cylinder deactivation technology to boost mileage and makes more safety features standard. Chris Wardlaw appreciates the CX-5’s driving experience, swanky interior, and technology, giving the vehicle a perfect 10 for Cost Effectiveness.
All CX-5s use a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that makes 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque and a 6-speed automatic that can deliver power to the front wheels or all four, depending on trim. The transmission does not have steering-wheel-mounted paddles, but it can be manually shifted, and the CX-5 also offers a Sport driving mode. Mazda does not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and the CX-5 has less cargo room than some competitors, but it’s a great package overall. Read more on CarGurus: https://cargur.us/npKzb
