The average number of hours spent by motorists in their cars in the world’s top-ten most congested cities. From Los Angeles and Bogota to Paris, Istanbul and Bangkok, urban drivers are all too familiar with getting stuck in traffic jams or halted at each and every red light.
This kind of driving involves endless speeding up, slowing down and gear shifting. How many times a day when arriving at a traffic light or intersection or when approaching another car are you obliged to change gear?
One of the group's objectives is to make motoring easier, including in urban areas. And New Twingo is perfect for this environment!
NEW TWINGO + EDC GEARBOX = NO MORE PROBLEMS
Twingo is Groupe Renault’s well-known city car. It revolutionizes driving with its tight turning circle of 4.30 meters, making U-turns a cinch!
And to make urban drives even more pleasant, Twingo models powered by the 95 hp TCe engine are now available with the EDC automatic gearbox.
As its name indicates (EDC being short for Efficient Dual Clutch), the EDC gearbox comprises two clutches that work together to prepare for the next gear shift, delivering a smoother and more pleasurable drive. A well-known feature of the Renault range since 2010, the EDC gearbox is unique to a model in Twingo's segment. EDC technology also helps to limit fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The rear-engined, rear-wheel-drive hatchback will be offered with a choice two gasoline engines, both with three cylinders. The naturally aspirated 1.0-liter is hooked up exclusively to a five-speed manual transmission and can be had with either 65 horsepower or 75 hp, and in both cases it will push out 95 Newton-meters (70 pound-feet) of torque. Go for the turbocharged 0.9-liter unit and Renault will reward you with 93 hp and 135 Nm (110 lb-ft) channeled to the rear axle via a five-speed manual. At an additional cost, the turbo engine can work together with a dual-clutch, six-speed automatic gearbox.
