2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace facelift revealed, Australian launch due early 2022. VW's seven-seat SUV goes under the knife for its mid-life facelift, with revised styling, updated cabin tech and new driver assistance features.
The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace has been officially unveiled, ahead of its Australian launch in the first quarter of 2022 (January to March inclusive).

Mirroring changes to its five-seat sibling, the facelifted Tiguan Allspace gains an updated look, a tweaked cabin design, new driver assistance features and revisions to the seven-seat Volkswagen SUV's engine line-up

On the styling front, a new front fascia headlines the changes, with reshaped headlights inspired by the new Golf hatch, a full-width LED daytime-running light strip, and revised lower bumper designs which differ in design between standard and R-Line models.

Matrix LED headlights are available on flagship models, as per its smaller twin, with 24 individual LED modules capable of switching off individually so not to blind oncoming drivers.
New alloy wheel designs feature down the side, while at the rear ‘TIGUAN’ script now sits below the Volkswagen logo.

Inside, Volkswagen’s latest steering wheel design sits in front of the driver, while updated infotainment software and a touch-based climate control panel represent other key additions for MY22.

An 8.0-inch digital instrument display is now standard in overseas markets, with a 10.25-inch cluster available on higher grades, along with a Harman/Kardon premium sound system, and heated and ventilated leather seats.

Three rows and seven seats continue to be standard in Europe, with up to 1920 litres of storage with the second and third rows folded down.
Bolstering the Tiguan Allspace’s active safety suite is the addition of Volkswagen’s Travel Assist system, allowing the vehicle to accelerate, brake and centre itself within its lane on freeways at speeds up to 210km/h.

Other available safety features include autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Under the bonnet, the pre-facelift model’s engine range is expected to largely carry over in Australia, meaning a choice of three petrols and one diesel.

A 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder will open the line-up – potentially paired to the Golf’s eight-speed torque-converter automatic – while 132kW/320Nm and 162kW/350Nm versions of a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-pot will make up the higher end of the range.
The current model’s 140kW 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder is expected to be swapped out for a newer version of the 2.0-litre engine, now developing 147kW and 400Nm.

All models bar the front-drive 110kW petrol feature all-wheel-drive traction.
