20F) Hong Meiling Ver.2 (Labyrinth of Touhou 1 Special Disc)
0"Meiling has to be easiest Ver.2 fight since she's the first boss in the game, right?" Wrong.
Meiling has 500 SPD (faster than the ridiculously quick Chen), has 40K DEF (more than Yuugi, only a bit less than Tenshi) and has 2M HP (which IIRC is more HP than any Ver.2 boss except for Yukari and Rinnosuke, who have multiple forms / phases). Meiling is so over-statted compared to the other early V2 bosses, though she also 0 MND, making her vulnerable to magic.
Unfortunately, it's not that simple thanks to Meiling's new tricks. Huge Tremor Strike (a NTR element physical AOE) and Arrow Rain (a NON-E physical AOE) can let her snipe slots 3 and 4. She also has Rasetsu Fist and with her ridiculous SPD, she can easily overwhelm your party. I'm convinced this fight exists to troll players fresh out of the Maribel fight.
It's not an impossible fight (Kanako can take full advantage of her low CLD affinity), it's just one that should be done when you're a higher level.
(Also, my favorite fact about this fight is that Meiling has 726,624K MAG. No that's not an error. I believe the arbitrarily high MAG stat is for when she uses her Colorful Rain to self-heal)
