The special effects supervisor, John Richardson, brings in real fireworks for reference, and the crew creates a library of fireworks for each shot. The fireworks become more like characters as they start to do things that normal fireworks can't do, grounding themselves in real fireworks to not stray too far from what the audience is seeing. The Weasley twins flying out through the door and the proclamations exploding on the wall required careful planning, testing, and special rigs to create the desired effect.
