#234 Capcom vs. SNK Pro \\ Dreamcast \\ menus & modes (but super-low mic gah)
(I actually had my mic vs game volume levels where I wanted them, but I didn't realize quite how ridiculously loud in general this game is; my old method of just watching for the highest sound spike for a while then calibrating automatically from that just can't deal with a game that is thoroughly loud all the time, and that is merely the first, baseline step in getting the volume levels balanced. Sigh. So I'll just have to calibrate from there by ear, what a concept. So umm maybe yeah after the next, volume-make-up GGX episode, I'll have to do a volume-make-up CvSP episode, and try to at least be borderline audible, sheesh. The Dreamcast is a noisy noisy beast.)
Going through menus and modes of Capcom vs. SNK Pro on the Dreamcast. May be imagining things but at first blush it feels more challenging than that PS1 version, in which I think I could kinda breeze to the boss on the highest difficulty setting--here on Medium (after an initial play on the default low difficulty) it puts up a pretty decent challenge, and I only got to the boss once, where I was quickly crushed once he resurrected himself.

Notes:
8'03 - Ryu / Kyo special intro
18'50 - Each character has 8 colors--and I think up to 2 more from color edit mode. You pick the first 4 buttons with the four face (attack) buttons; then you do combinations: the two punch buttons (X+Y), the two kick buttons (A+B), the two light attack buttons (X+A), the two heavy attack buttons (Y+B), and, for the edit colors (I think), mixed light+heavy buttons (X+B, A+Y)--although I'm not sure if these are locked to the original button mappings (I hate that), or if they update if you remap the attack buttons.
30'21 - that team selection script is at http://smbhax.com/cgi-bin/teams/cvs.pl -- eventually I suppose I'll customize it to take out characters I have no interest in playing (for now Dhalsim is still in there, for instance)
46'37 - Terry / Yamazaki special intro
48'29 - Terry / Ken special intro
1'02"45 - Dan's taunt Super : P
So many cool little details in this game, and the presentation with the pumping music and the robo-announcer voice remains one of the best in fighting games. : )
