25 Easter Eggs In Falcon And The Winter Soldier Episode 6 + Post Credit Scene SKRULL Theory
From comic book references to new suits, there is a lot of easter eggs in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Episode 6 finale.
When Sharon Carter is first introduced in the episode, she appears as an old man with the same undercover mask that black widow used to infiltrate Hydra in the second Captain America movie.
A guy in the GRC references what Torres said about Captain America being on the moon when he sees...
Sam Wilson in his comic book accurate costume! I mean from the stripes to the all white upper top, it’s the same costume he had from the comics. Don’t you love it when something is done right?
Batroc tells Sam Wilson that Robes don’t make the monk, implying that same persecution that Sam tells the Senator in his monologue where in the world people are going to hate Sam for wearing the stars and stripes, but regardless, he’ll fight for those people too.
When the board member hands off the phone to Bucky, she reveals herself to be a flagsmasher also. We get this with the military soldier as well later in the episode. Bottom line is there are still flagsmashers out there and they are in the government.
Bucky says all he ever tried to do was fight for something bigger then himself and he failed twice. The first time, when he fought for his country, he fell from a train and hydra turned him on his country. The second time he fought for something bigger than himself can be debated, with Civil War, siding with Captain America, and Iron Man almost killing him leaving him no choice but to go to Wakanda for healing.
There’s a number on a building reading 229. When you associate that number with a Captain America comic, the comic that comes up is one about a traitor in our midst. Foreshadowing us learning that Sharon is the Power Broker, and when she is reinstated into the American government, she becomes the traitor in the government’s midst.
When Steve Roger returned to the mantle of Cap in the comics, John Walker stepped down as Cap, and became U.S. Agent. In the show, this was adapted in the sense that When Sam Wilson claimed his mantle as Cap in this situation, Walker even gets his U.S. Agent insignia, and his comic book accurate suit too!
Sharon kills Batroc by shooting him. In the Captain America Sam Wilson comic run, Batorc’s death happens by him falling off a cliff to his death.
John quotes Abraham Lincoln in saying, “Mercy bears richer fruits than strict justice.” - This shows Walker to have completely changed his way of thinking.
Not sure if this was on purpose, but the jacket that Valentina wears in the episode, is in direct reference to the color of her chair and phone as Madame Hydra in the comics.
Bucky talks about the winter soldier in the third person, completing Bucky’s journey from bridging his life from that life of killing and murder.
Isaiah Bradley remarks Sam as not exactly the next, Malcolm, Martin, or Mandela. Of course, this is in reference to Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, and Nelson Mandela, all three being some of the most influential black people in human history.
He makes another remark that Sam is Black Captain America which is exactly who Isiah Bradley is in the comics.
The song that plays us out of the finale is On And On by Curtis Harding. Let me read you a few lyrics, I’m gonna keep rollin on, no matter what the world may do. These lyrics tie directly to what Sam said in the finale, with how people are going to hate him wearing the stripes, but he’s not going to let anyone tell him he can’t fight for his country.
The government tells Sharon Carter that they have a lot to owe to the Carter name. This is no doubt in reference to the legacy that Peggy carter left working for the U.S. government.
If you stayed until the final credit, we get a name change in the show to Captain America and The Winter Soldier, solidifying Sam’s role as Cap and completing his story arc in the show.
In that post-credit scene, Sharon is talking to someone on the phone about what her involvement in the U.S. government gives them access to. Sharon, being the Power Broker, there’s a lot we can theorize as to whom she is talking to. Personally, I think she is a Skrull and her infiltrating the government is setting up the plot for the Secret Invasion show. So, on that phone, there’s another slimy Skrull that she is talking to this time around they are the bad ones for sure.
