14 Easter Eggs YOU Missed In Falcon And The Winter Soldier Episode 5 + Post Credits Scene Explained
From the introduction of a new marvel comics character, Valentina De Fontaine, to a post-credits scene, here is everything YOU missed the Falcon And The Winter Soldier Episode 5.
When Bucky and Falcon were trying to tear the shield from John Walker, it was the same shot of taking the gauntlet from Thanos in Avengers infinity war. Except this time, they really did get the shield from him. Bucky in this scene represents everyone who was restraining thanos and Iron Man and spiderman represent Falcon who was using his rocket thruster to get the shield off.
Torres returns in this episode in a scene that starts with him admiring Falcon’s broken wings and literally standing over them for his entire conversation with Falcon. Falcon then tells Torres to keep the wings. This straight-up sets up Torres to become Falcon like the comics.
Valentina Allegra De Fontaine is introduced in this episode. She is a character from the marvel comics that was a prominent shield member who has beat Nick Fury in hand-to-hand combat, she actually had a relationship with him, she flirted with Cap too stirring up conflict with Sharon Carter. In the comics, after shield, she began working for hydra and made rank as Madame Hydra and that is when she nearly beat Viper, owner of Madripoor which we’ve seen in the series, to a pulp.
Zemo doesn’t explain why he won’t kill Bucky even though he is a super soldier and Zemo hates super-soldiers, it’s because Zemo can see that Bucky doesn’t share the supremacist ideals of someone like Walker who took the serum to feel like a superior being.
The Dora Milaje take Zemo from Sokovia and Ayo reveals him to be taken to the raft. Last time we saw the raft was Captain America Civil War where the Avengers that helped Cap, in that movie, were imprisoned.
Notice how in the previous episode, Ayo calls Bucky, James. In this episode, however, she calls him White Wolf. White wolf being his title in Wakanda when stripping his mind of the Winter Soldier. It’s in this episode she calls him White Wolf because he made the right decision of not harming Zemo and returning him to justice instead. The Winter Soldier likely would’ve killed Zemo right there and then, but Bucky chose not to and it’s because he’s healed of that time.
Isaiah tells Falcon that there was a line of soldiers including him each shot up with a serum. When Bradley told Falcon this, all I could picture was this scene in Captain America Civil War with a line of people being shot up with their own serum.
In Sarah Wilson’s house, there is a detailed drawing hung up on the wall. It’s very small and hard to see but it looks almost like the X-Men’s Blackbird from the comics.
Bucky brings Sam a new suit that we haven’t seen yet, but it is inferred to look something like his suit from when he was Captain America in the comics, specifically his Captain America: Sam Wilson run.
Sharon Carter recruits someone in an Algerian prison, in the captain america comics Algeria was a place that the Red Skull set up base camp for a while. One of the stories followed two American spies infiltrating Red Skulls HQ. It was there that an assassin working for Skull killed them. That assassin could be The Finisher, who Sharon Carter may be speaking with on the phone. Essentially, he’s an assassin, not much more to him. Or more likely is the hero le Peregrine who is a french man with skilled abilities in hand-to-hand combat and oh, has wings.
If you missed it, there was a post credits scene of John Walker taking a bunch of metal and making his own Captain america shield. So, if you were wondering why in the episode 6 trailer there were scratch marks on the shield, it’s because he made a replica. This truly shows the nature of how far John is willing to go to keep the mantle of Captain America. It’s like if a prince was kicked out of a kingdom even though it is his time to be king. Essentially, he believes he is the rightful heir to the throne, so kingdom or no kingdom, he’ll build his own throne. Don’t you just love symbolism?
