#284 Capcom Fighting Jam PS2 \\ JPN Capcom Fighting Evolution has...Nool & Mukuro??
Playing Capcom Fighting Jam on PS2--this is the Japanese version of Capcom Fighting Evolution. I got it because the US version doesn't have in-game move lists, and I noticed that there's a BradyGames print guide for the US version, and I thought that might have meant that it maybe *had* move lists in the Japanese version, but they got removed for the US version as part of a deal to help sell more of the print guide--as apparently happened with Capcom's Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, US version, for PS2.
So I got the Japanese version, Capcom Fighting Jam, and...nope, no move lists. : P No English win quotes, either--they're Japanese-only.
What really surprised me though was some of the character names for the Red Earth--now called by its Japanese name, War-Zard--crew are different: Hauser and Leo still have their same names, but the squiddy guy, Hydron, is now "Nool," and the ninja Kenji is now "Mukuro" (not to be confused with the reanimated corpse in Last Blade 2, I suppose!).

Otherwise--well aside from other names, like "Darkstalkers" is "Vampire" in Japan--the two versions seem the same so far. So the question is, do I keep playing Evolution, or Jam? Jam does have cooler disc art...
Looking back through the English win quotes I recorded from Evolution in episode 258 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNo0s4Z5wNw ...yeah those are pretty bad. : P Should probably just stick with the Japanese version, since "Jam" is a much better name. ; D (Less sure about Nool and Mukuro, but I don't like those characters much. ; ) (Actually wait no, Nool is way funnier than Hydron, not even close!) (Japanese version it is, then!! : D)
Oh I remember what I kept starting and then forgetting to say in the video about in-game move lists: that I think I'm kind of starting to prefer not having them. Oh to be sure there will inevitably be something I really really want to look up, and they're handy for that; but then they become this too-handy temptation, nay, this obsession, that I MUST know all the moves or I'm just a feeb who doesn't deserve to be playing, so if there's any question I NEED to pause immediately and go look up the move.
Bleh. Also I seem to be absolutely terrible at memorizing super move inputs. ; P But really what I should do 99.8% of the time I think is just play like there are no in-game move lists, just go by what feels good, let the rest turn up if it wants to, and you know, have fun.
And I guess I kind of subconsciously act this out at least in one sense: I have a Japanese PS2, but I've never gone back and bought the Japanese version of Alpha Anthology, which has the move lists that my US version doesn't. ; )
Now, Evolution/Jam is sort of more tricky than most games in that even just the TYPE of input you need for a move can vary wildly from character to character, since they keep the input methods of whatever game they're from; I kept forgetting how Vampire/Darkstalkers super moves tend to work, for instance. But eh well maybe that just means I need to play more Vampire! ^+^ Or not worry about the silly supers. Although wait Demitri's in here with his Midnight Bliss, the bestest super ever. Oh and he did it on my Guy!! (1'10"06) And girl Guy dresses like Maki, it turns out. ^_^
