#tech is a wonderful enabler, but it's rarely collectable - apart from (perhaps) vintage #tech when consumer technology was new and rare (or rarely kept past its prime). Technology is fun to use, but typically built to be replaced with an upgrade within a few years. Holding onto older #tech is generally not a good idea if you're not continuing to use it. #tech that sits there not working (or off) is not really serving any purpose. #tech does not accrue value, unlike true collectables - #tech loses value quickly, as new #tech replaces it. Collectables cannot be replaced. No computer produced ten years ago is worth more now than it was then (just the opposite). Much like a car (which itself is a piece of technology), once you drive something off the lot... it loses value. #tech is fun, but not a very wise investment outright. Hardware is commonplace, and commodity isn't necessarily the hallmark of a great collectable. Collectables may be packed with tech, but #tech outright doesn't make a very wise long-term investment / keepsake. PS: Read the title - it is why **I** don't collect tech ;)
