32 - LIVE! Shiny Gen 1 Mew on Yellow after 37,599 Fossils Revived!
154Hey! I started this hunt in May and finally got it done on stream on the 24th of October. I set it up using the Fossil Conversion glitch (Link to tutorial below). This hunt meant a lot to me, not only because it went over 37k but mainly because I was the one who optimized the set up for the Fossil Conversion glitch hunts. It took me several weeks to find it and when it was done, I had to decide what to hunt. I ended up chosing Mew for multiple reasons, the first one is I've always liked Mew as a Pokémon and its shiny, the only other way to hunt it is in Emerald and it's what most people do, it's a really cool hunt but I really felt the need to hunt this Pokémon in gen 1. As you might know it I want to hunt every legendary in the gen they appeared in so doing it in Emerald wouldn't even have been an option for me. The second reason behind my choice is that I had never hunted a legendary nor a mythical before and I felt like this mysterious Pokémon that is in the lore the ancestor of every Pokémon would be perfect as first legendary and first mythical at the same time. The last and probably most important motivation is that this hunt totally respects the lore of Pokémon. A lot of people know that Mewtwo was created using Mew DNA which could have been used to recreate a Mew instead. This hunt made me think a lot about the censored intro to the first Pokémon movie, where explorers find a fossilized Mew eyelash that is later used to create Mewtwo. I really like to think that I just gave this fossilized Mew eyelash to the scientist who revives fossils.
