3DO : Oukoku No Grand Chef (JAP)
Oukoku No Grand Chef (王国のグランシェフ) is a turn based RPG that was developed and published by Sala International in 1995 exclusively for the Panasonic 3DO system and the Japanese market.
The main protagonist (Pal) is a young boy who dreams to become a Grand Chef. The problem is that he knows nothing about cooking. In order to fullfil his goal, he asks for guidance from the famous chef Yukio Hattori . Mr Yukio accepts the request and magically sends him into a mythical kingdom where the unlucky residents "suffer" from bad food recipes (there is a conspiracy!!) . This adventure of collecting recipes, ingredients and even pots to cook some quality food will lead our hero to save the kingdom ~from the bad guys~ but mainly, to become a great chef.
In this obscure ~but also unique~ game, subtitled as Cooking Fantasy RPG, the gameplay mechanics are minimal. The most interesting part is that you have to collect/create recipes (there's a Recipe Book ).
It's fully 3D and in my opinion one of the most good looking games for the 3DO system. One noticable detail is that every character has its own voice acting. Also, an interesting fact about the game is that mr.Yukio Hattori is a real person! In fact he is a very famous Japanese chef. He was part of the game's production and in a lot of occasions you will see his videos with some advises to offer.
