Here's an all new 60 fps split-screen comparison of 4 different versions of Daytona USA:

The arcade version (played on Model 2 Emulator)
The Dreamcast version (played on Demul 0.582)
The PC Deluxe version
The original Sega Saturn version (played on SSF Emulator)

I've made a four way comparison of Daytona before so why remake it?

Firstly I wanted all new 60 fps.video capture of the Model 2 Emulated and Dreamcast versions. The PC version is 30 fps and the Saturn version chugs along at 20 fps, but I decided to get all new capture for them too.

Back when I made the original video, I was only using the trial version of the video editing software I use now, which meant when trying to make split-screen videos I had to cut a lot of corners to try and get the effects I wanted. The result of this was that the end videos were often not as aesthetically pleasing as I'd like, with screens that were mismatched in size, poorly centered and often with ugly black borders intruding into the playing window. Despite being rendered in HD they also sometimes looked quite low res as well for some reason. Often, a lot of my older videos were also in 4:3 rather than widescreen, again resulting in unnecessary small playing windows for each screen of gameplay.

Whilst I can get by in both the arcade and Dreamcast versions of Daytona and get a 1st place without too much trouble, the same cannot be said for the Saturn version. I do pretty terribly at it. I don't do massively better in the PC version, but to be honest the only versions I cared about getting a semi-decent run, for the gameplay footage, were the Arcade and Dreamcast versions. I had previously unlocked the 'Daytona' maxed out stats car for the PC version of Daytona Deluxe on my other PC, but it's hard-drive died just before Christmas and I lost the save file, hence why I'm using the standard Hornet. I did get some video of the Daytona car in action for some other Daytona videos for anyone curious about it.
