Having failed to find a backup of GAIA in the Far Zenith facility, Aloy and Varl travel to Meridian in search of a new lead - but find they are not the only ones seeking answers when they learn that something strange has happened to the tower in Aloy’s absence.
Inside the ruins of the Far Zenith Launch Facility, Aloy is excited to find what she believes to be a backup of GAIA, but it turns out to be a fake, much to her frustration. Varl soon catches up, and he is astonished to see a projection of GAIA, believing it to be the All-Mother of Nora mythology, only for Aloy to angrily remind him that said goddess doesn't exist. They subsequently exit the ruins together.
With her search still not over, Aloy decides to leave Varl behind, not wanting to endanger him any further. However, before she can leave, Varl recalls Sylens' previous help to Aloy, but she hadn't heard from him since the battle against HADES. Varl suggests going to Meridian and consulting Blameless Marad, citing the latter's good ability to locate people. Aloy reluctantly agrees, and when Varl suggests walking, she overrides two Chargers to use as mounts for the long journey to Meridian.
