The music used in this video is from my track called "Eastern Tides” from TrillyRap AkA George. I’m gonna show you how to easily make these video editing effects from scratch using Filmora but the techniques can be applied using just about any software.

1. Color Shift Effect:
The first effect you’ll notice is intense color shifts in the footage. You might’ve seen something similar in videos by Mac Miller and Janelle Monae. There could be several ways to color shift your videos but we did it using blending modes. To get this effect in Filmora, put your main footage on your top track layer and a video texture in the second track layer. If you dont have a video texture like this you can follow along using the software and texture video we uploaded here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NI7ssdpP9sSRSwqRXcnLvxhVXEksJ02M. Once its on the second track layer, right click on the video texture, click advanced edit, & find the compositing tab. Here you’ll want to choose the exclusion or difference blending mode to blend your layers together. This will invert the colors of main footage based on the colors of your video texture. You can also try combining background colors with blending modes or use drag and drop filters like the Hue shift and Rainbow Filter found in Filmora’s filters tab to get similar results.

2. Bass/Screen Pump Effect:
The next effect is the bass pumping effect. It happens when the screen bumps to the beat. So whether it’s a music or lyric video, an action scene, or a text animation, this trendy effect will pump up your shots in the best way possible.The first thing you need to do to create this effect in your editor is to make precise cuts to the parts of your video where the hits of the beat are the strongest, we did it on places where the Kick and Snare are, You know your Unce Unce *fist bump* . This is where you’ll want the screen to pump. Now grab the clips you cut out and use the cropping tool to crop the clips inwards for the duration of the pump. The video should go back and forth between cropped and unaltered video frames for the best pumping effect

3. Flicker Effect / Strobe Light
Just like the Bass Pumping Effect, The Flicker Effect is created by inserting different clips between beats on your main video track. We added blank black backgrounds in between the cuts but you can use just about any clip. Do this consecutively between the beats to create a strobe light effect to the music. Black backgrounds are easy to make but can also be readily found in Filmora’s media library. You can find an example of the Flicker effect and the distortion effects we’re about to cover in the video for Okra, by Tyler the Creator and Calvin Harris’ This is What You Came For.

4. Distortion Filters
Distortion filters are really easy to make in Filmora. All distortion effects can be found in the filters tab and dragged and dropped right onto your video clips. In this video we used the chromatic abberation and the mirror effect applying them on beat between different clips.

5. Flash Effects
The final effect Im gonna show you is a preset from the Fashion set which can be licensed from Filmora Effects Store. This is the only paid effect we used in this video. Once you have the Fashion set loaded into Filmora, choose the Apfel filter in the filters tab. As with any of the other presets, drag the filter onto the cuts on your video clips. A notable example using the Flash effect is the song Milegi Milegi sung by Mika Singh for the movie Stree https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMo0VS3OTvw
