Phase 02 of Operation Verdant Gambit 2023 - Task Force Charlie
Excerpt from the OPORD (Operation Order):
I - SITUATION
Task Organization: Havoc 3-2 and Havoc 3-4 are support squads; Havoc 3-1 and Havoc 3-3 are assault squads.
Time: 20AUG23 @ 0700 Local (UTC+5)
Areas of Interest: Sir B. Léon Aerodrome, COP Magnus
Area of Operation: Pulau Monyet, Republic of Kupale
- Observations and Fields of Fire: rough, uneven swamps covered by tropical forest. The only reliably clear area is immediately around the airfield itself. No hilltops that can grant a dominating view of the surroundings, except for COP MAGNUS itself. Element leaders must exercise great vigilance in designating defensive positions and sectors of fire to ensure that not only are all sectors covered, but also that no sector is under-manned and therefore easily overwhelmed.
- Avenues of Approach: only one ASR runs adjacent to the airfield and forks to the North, that also suffers from the roughness of the terrain. Most likely will be the only viable avenue of approach for OPFOR vehicles.
- Key Terrain: Tropical Rainforests, Bibung Fishing Village, Swamps, Monyet Airfield, COP MAGNUS
- Obstacles: multiple small and medium sized lakes surround the Airfield, creating possible chokepoints for defensive purposes. The viability of these chokepoints will be assessed once ground elements can directly observe.
- Cover and Concealment: the entirety of the AO is covered in pockets of cover and concealment, allowing defensive positions to have natural fall-back points and covered egress. This feature also applies to the enemy, and flanking maneuvers up to point blank range can be a real concern if 360 security is not maintained at all times.
- Weather: cloudy, light-to-medium rainfall, high humidity, light-to-medium wind.

Mission of Adjacent Units: Task Force Alpha is expected to begin moving to COP Magnus at 0730 Local, and should arrive at around 0830 to 0900 Local. Task Force Echo will start establishing AIRBASE MAGNUS at 1530 Local if the area is adequately secured.
Civilian Considerations:
- Presence: Task Force Commander (Havoc 7) expects civilians to be present at the Airfield, as reported by Task Force Alpha earlier in the morning. It is unknown whether these civilians have aided OPFOR in ambushing Task Force Alpha at Tabako.
- End State: if they are still present and the order is given, 3rd Platoon will escort civilians away from the airfield and/or conduct searches/debriefs of these civilians, should time/conditions allow.

II - MISSION
1. The Task Force Charlie ground element will continue movements south from their PATROL BASE [GRIDREF 051056]
i. Task Force Charlie will need to locate a suitable LZ to airlift to SIR B. LÉON AERODROME [GRIDREF 011026].
2. Once consolidated at SIR B. LÉON AERODROME [GRIDREF 011026], Task Force Charlie will:
i. Take control of the immediate airspace and aerodrome facilities, and designate AIRBASE RAGNAR [GRIDREF 011026].
i. Conduct security patrols to the immediate south and east of AIRBASE RAGNAR [GRIDREF 011026].
ii. Establish and entrench a robust defensive position, to await reinforcement and resupply.
