7 year Chase for Muscle Car - Gary's Plymouth Fury III
22Aussie Garage interviewed Gary about his 7-8 year chase for this Plymouth Fury 3 Convertible after seeing this at Big Al's Poker Run Car Event in Western Australia back in 2004. This is one mean piece of American Muscle in Australia.
After seeing this Plymouth Fury 3 back in 2004, he kept on eye out for this muscle car as he want a unique ride that many car lovers had to stand out from the rest. In 2012, Gary won the chase and got the previous owner to sell him the Plymouth Fury 3 to him.
As far as the history of the Plymouth, it was imported in Australia around 2001, when the previous owner imported 1 sedan and 1 convertible of these style Plymouths. As far as Gary knows, this is the only one in Australasia at present and he loves that fact it stands out. He also believes it used to be an ex police car in Canadian before it was imported in Australia.
This Plymouth Fury has a Stroker engine that is about 428 to 440 cubic inch engine V8 and pushs out about 384 Horsepower at the rear wheels. The V8 engine started its life as a 383 big block engine. Its still running the original Torque flight gearbox that was reconditioned and standard Plymouth Furry Diff. The engine is running a Holley Sniper EFI Carburetor.
The interior of this Plymouth Fury 3 in immaculate and like sitting on a massive couch for the back seat and very comfortable as well. It has bench front seat in vinyl material all the way round. The Plymouth is painted in a Metallic Silver at present, be Gary is considering changing this shortly to suit his styling. It has Hali brand Wheels and he considering dropping this on air bags suspension as well soon.
One thing is for sure, this is lovely car to cruise around in and the sound is awesome with the 3" twin exhaust system. We took the car for a spin with the top down and it was truly stunning day for it.
Gary is a self proclaimed Mopar Addict and his garage is lined with Mopar Signs and Collectables. He is also apart of the Northern Steel Car Club and loves getting out with the club for cruises and shows all the time.
There is only one thing wrong with this Plymouth Fury 3 and that trying to park it public places due its size, but Gary manages it well.
