Well we haven't accomplished the goal of planting an unmanned probe vehicle safely on the Mun's surface, yet, but we did manage to put a satellite with solar panels, batteries, and a science lab in a high, stable Kerbin orbit, so hey.

And we're learning, we're developing. The tri-rocket thing, like our solid fuel adventures, are really just for crazy cuz more than for any real reason. In KSP, you either advance, or dick around, and if you can do both at the same time, it's all to the good.
