This is probably just about the most items I will ever get in this game this quickly. = oo Can just see the hot air balloon for a moment as I flicked in and out of the arcade to rotate the opponents there at 40:45--but the balloon indicates the next I think up to 10 matches will be item battles, if you can keep winning them all.

I had a promotion match come up in the middle of the item battle streak (55:43) and it was NOT also an item battle--whereas I think item and promotion matches could coincide in VF4:Evo. Here, item battles resumed after the promotion match.

Hot air balloons have been extremely rare in my experience: I think I only saw a couple while playing about six characters up through 8th dan or so. Then again, they're kind of easy to miss, and if you lose the first item battle, you'd have no reason to think there was any kind of special streak starting; so the fact that I'm playing in the easiest arcade makes such a streak easier to catch.

Finally realized toward the end (1:18:52) that both my bread and butter combos, P+K,K and fP,P,K, tend to turn the opponent sideways in 5, rather than knocking them down like they did in Evo--and that this means I could potentially follow it up with another attack! In a quick test, it seemed that the time the opponent remained side-turned was highly variable, so I'm not sure what the soundest way to follow up is. More testing needed!

Note to self: still have a new city tournament (announced @ 53:00) to do!

And gosh that cowboy hat is big. : P
