#970 Fighting Vipers 2 (ARC) Bosses (3/3): Del Sol gameplay.
Gameplay of the hidden boss and hidden character Del Sol in the arcade version of Sega’s Fighting Vipers 2.
Ah, Del Sol. We barely knew ye. This guy was actually meant to be in a couple of other fighting games, but unfortunately those never saw the light of day. As a result, we’re stuck with a bizarre, out of place character, in a game where he only vaguely makes sense simply because of how zany he is.
Del Sol is a grappler character, unsurprisingly. He has a number of high-flying moves and numerous grabs at his disposal. The problem is…grabs seem really difficult to utilise in this game. Some can be worked into combos, but they’re finicky at best in a game as fast as this. As a result, I really like what they were attempting to go for with the high-flying Luchador character, and I do think he’s a good addition to the game, but he’s just not my sort of character in general. He helps to add a bit of move-diversity to a game with a fairly limited cast however, and for that alone I’d consider him a worthwhile addition on the whole.
That wraps it up for re-covering FV2. It’s always great to go back to a game as fun as this.
Next up, it’s time to finish Sega’s other 3D fighting game series as I move onto Virtua Fighter 4.
