99% Impossible by 7Z [MARIO MAKER 1]
My final SMM1 level. This video was supposed to be uploaded on March 31st and was going to post a different video today, but I was dumb and accidentally deleted the file that had my clear of this, and I didn't notice until it was too late. So I had to beat the level again. Oh well, at least this didn't happen for Red, Blue, Green or Giovanni battle.
Anyway, this is the end of an era. Even after SMM2 came out I always took it for granted that we could continue uploading levels in SMM1. The thought that that feature would be removed barely crossed my mind until Nintendo announced that it would happen, and suddenly it became the only thing I was thinking about for a few months. So I kept revisiting SMM1 until I felt satisfied and knew for sure that I had nothing left to upload in the game. I ended up with 40 levels on Z7, my main account, 10 levels on ZzZzZzZ, my first alt account and 50 levels on 7Z, my second alt account. That makes a nice round total of 100 levels if we don't count my poké-precision accounts, which I don't, because for them it's not immediately obvious that they're my alt accounts like with these. Yes, this means I could have fit everything in the same account, but I didn't want to. As for why I chose this to be my final level, that's be because the video where I play 5 levels with the same title was one of my first videos to get popular, so it all comes full circle. And while I always thought a title like this was dumb and cringe, I guess it's time for me to embrace that cringe now.
As I mentioned earlier I had to beat this twice, the first time I got super lucky, I didn't fail the last note block spin jump or the midair too many times, and when I did it for the first time I also beat the level. When I realized my file of that was gone I knew it wasn't going to be that easy, and I was right. The second time I cleared this it wasn't until I failed the ending in pretty much every possible way. I died many times at the note block spin jump because reaching the max height is super awkward, at the controlled shell jumps after the door, at the midair, at the trump jump after it, and at the burners. I'm surprised I didn't die at the spikes on the axe, on my first clear I actually forgot those spikes were there, because they were a last minute change, I was able to react just in time to jump and avoid them, but I didn't even think of crouching there, which is super risky, and I still got it somehow. So maybe deleting my video of that first clear was the world's way of telling me I didn't deserve to beat it that quick. I don't know. :p
Fortunately the ability to play levels is still around, if it wasn't, I think I would have played nothing but SMM1 the past 4 months, because there are some levels that I'd like to go back and beat. And I might upload my clear of at least one, but it won't be for a while. Just hope they won't announce that we'll be unable to play levels by the end of 2021. I like to think that they removed the ability to upload levels on march 31st just so I wouldn't upload "The Best 1-2 Remake" on april fools this year, speaking of, I wonder if people still believe my april fools level from last year was SMM2.
