A Better Space Invaders on Atari 2600? Inv+ on Homebrew Review!
15Although Space Invaders was the game that launched a million Atari VCS (a/k/a Atari 2600) into living rooms nationwide, it neither looked nor played like the arcade version. Frankly people were so excited to have anything resembling the smash hit video game at home that they could have cared less, but decades later we have Inv+ from Erik Mooney and Piero Cavina to more closely minic Taito's original game. The blocky pixel shaped invaders may not look the part, but they achieve the correct orientation of 11 rows and 5 columns one would expect, and the gameplay mechanics are much closer to the arcade game than anything else on this console.
