A Blissful Light of Freedom
194This setup holds some of the most important experiences I've ever had as a domino artist and as a person. I've been working on this project since late July, the first push to get it going being the release of Lily (Hevesh5)'s personal record setup. Another inspiration was Nathan (MarDominoes)'s 32,000 domino record from 2018. At that time that I started, I only planned for this to be somewhere around 7,000 dominoes, though I knew that I had tendencies to make projects way bigger than my plans. I thought that it would land somewhere around the 12,000 domino mark. I didn't expect to push through and make an entire 21,000 domino chain reaction, though, as I thought that I'd need some rest before tackling such a massive project again. But I'm so happy that this is what became of this setup. At the beginning, I was specifically trying to build a setup that had a lot of resemblance to Lily and Nathan, but as time went on, that goal diminished, and more and more I just started building whatever I wanted, which is especially prominent in the right half of the setup.
But the most important thing that this setup has done for me is it has helped me gain confidence and trust in my own decisions. Not a single builder in this community has seen any part of this setup until now, which was a decision I made in the interest of creating something without any outside influence. The result was a project that had less of a focus on living up to the community's standards (though it still does quite a bit), but instead a project that pleased me more than any other that I've built.
This setup is one step closer for me to finding that balance between pleasing others with my videos and pleasing myself with them. I don't think I want to be on either end of the spectrum, but rather somewhere in between. I can't wait to keep building to see how this setup has changed me. I have so many ideas of projects to build and videos to make now that I doubt I'll have any form of builder's block for a while.
I'd like to thank Geoplex for his wonderful song. Throughout the entire building process, I was confident that I wanted to use "Florescentia", and when I watched the pairing of the setup with the song for the first time, I was overjoyed. This song helped me so much to figure out what this setup meant to me, and I couldn't be more thankful for that.
