1st Place - Mismag822's Best Original Card Trick Contest 2012.

I came up with this idea after thinking about some of the interesting patterns I saw in a deck of cards, and then it worked itself out from there.

The song in the background is "Shiita no Ketsui," from the Miyazaki film, Castle in the Sky, which I recorded on piano for this video.

Dialogue:
I have a theory about a deck of cards.

A deck of cards is a lot like life. For example, every deck has 2 colors, which represents day and night, and the 4 suits, the 4 seasons. Likewise, the values tell us that there are 365 days, 7 days in a week, 4 weeks in a month, and 12 months in a year.

I also believe a deck of cards illustrates some of the universal experiences people encounter at some point in time. In a lifetime, people discover the joys of finding love, and the sorrows upon losing it. They curse the occurrence of bad luck and poor health, and give thanks when blessed with good fortune and wellbeing. Finally, they enter battle, either physically or metaphorically, when their beliefs and ideologies clash with those of others, and only in reaching compromise are they able to achieve peace.

However, like this dec\k of cards, life is not everlasting. As we become older, it really makes you wonder -- what is the meaning of life...the universe....and everything...Well, that is [four] you [two] decide.
