【A Challenge of Two Yoshis by Hunter】SMW ROM Hack | Squiggy's ROM Hack Romp
Today's SMW hack, A Challenge of Two Yoshis, is our fifth submission by Hunter. Thanks friend!
This hack appears to be a demo of sorts that didn't make it too far. There's only two levels, and the levels are kind of lacking in enemies. In fact, was there an enemy? I remember dolphins, but no Koopas or what have you. I guess it's all about the Yoshis.
Besides the issues with lack of enemies and some messed up graphics, the hack was decent. I liked the idea behind the second level with the dolphins, I've never seen someone do that before. It's more of a Kaizo-type scenario in which it is useful, but still, it does that thing that continues to surprise me to this day -- shows me there's still new ways to manipulate the tools in Super Mario World to make new challenges that I haven't seen yet. That's amazing to me. ROM hacking is so flippin' cool, I don't think I'll ever get bored of them.
Does anyone actually read this far into the descriptions? I'm not sure. Well, today is your lucky day text explorer, let's play a little game!
Replace the symbols in this code with the first letter of the answers from the matching questions. When you're done, you should have a 15-character code. Put it in Steam to claim some random duplicate game I got from a Humble Bundle. Woop woop! Lets-a go!
Here's your code:
!I702-8@52#-$%^5&
! -- The number of Ghost Pokemon from Generation 1. (Use the actual number, not the first letter of the number. Breaking my own rules already, great start.)
@ -- The common call-out in a swimming pool that is responded to with "Polo!"
# -- Squiggy's SNES First Level _____.
$ -- The first name of the inventor of the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.
% -- "______ of Time", an hack by Yoshiro covered on the early days of this channel
^ -- The desert-dwelling creature that grows when Mario is riding Yoshi.
& -- The Japanese name for Bullet Bill.
If you actually take the time to do this, that's pretty cool. Please let me know down in the comments if you successfully get the game. I don't think too many people will even see this, so I'm not sure anyone will actually get it. We will just have to wait and see I guess.
Have a wonderful afternoon friends!
