For this critical thought, I talked about the challenge of balancing the skill levels of different groups within a game's design. Nintendo has been doing this for years and is a part of their masterclass of game design.
Being able to properly motivate players to get better and provide the hooks is an understated, but critical point of improving as a game designer.
