Let's Examine Oddworld New 'N' Tasty and Gating Mechanics
1I took a look at Oddworld Inhabitants remake of Abe's Oddysee: New N' Tasty. The game is not only a graphical update, but the developers have made it more challenging. I went through the first section of the game and showed off the puzzle solving and general controls of the game.
There were some problems I had with how things were presented to the player, and New N' Tasty is a good example of how not to gate mechanics and systems for the player. If you can get past those early bits, the game is still an amazing puzzle/platformer.
There's also a glitch with some of the obstacles that you had to use quicksaving to get around which I showed off as well.
