A Critical Thought on Uniqueness vs. Refinement in Games
Today's critical thought explores the argument of rating a game higher based on refinement or uniqueness. We see many AAA titles that are highly polished, but based on similar designs, and there are indie games that are unique, but very rough around the edges.
It's not an easy solution, as both extremes can hurt a game and I feel neither is the always superior option.
