In part 1 of our let's play Starbound volcano colony series, we set ourselves the challenge of building a new NPC colony in one of the most dangerous, difficult environments in the game - the volcano planet.

The average volcano planet has pools of lava, fire baddies that can go through walls and fire that rains from the sky. Some planets even have meteor strikes! Somehow we must find a way of building a working NPC colony without everybody dying or their houses burning down.

So, it may not be the best idea to build houses out of snow, then...?
